Brouhaha!!! It Is Here! The 2018 FIFA World Cup Football Championships!!! We've got balls and think its the butterfly's boots :) We are so chuffed for our initiative to bring world class Art together with world cup football in the most unexpected and dynamic ways!
So here is a Quadrennial World Cup Art page celebrating cultures through
art and sport! Here we are sharing art, songs, balls, stories, languages, videos, photos, match details--my husband Panayiotis might dish some dirt or predict a win; he's definitely making some collages that are MUST-SEE originals! :) Also there will be posts for laughing (and yes, crying too). New Updates on our projects development are coming soon, and thanks to all who are following our success and supporting our vision (secretly in your hearts or otherwise ;)

The 2018 World Cup is the twenty-first of its kind and it features thirty-two teams from two hundred and ten teams that were eligible for entry.
The first tournament was held in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1930. (see photo bottom left)Four groups of three teams and one of four making up a total of thirteen teams were participating. Teams were represented from North America, Europe, and South America. There were so few teams back then due to the difficulties of travel across the globe. There was no qualification just any country affiliated with FIFA was invited.
In front of their faithful, Uruguay was able to capture and write history and win the inaugural WORLD CUP
Everything has its humble beginnings !!! Quadrennial World Cup Art is excited for our development into the future!!! :)

Sport alone can provoke human emotion but the World Cup is something more. It is special.
And Art is trans formative like nothing else. For there is a certain sense of identification through art that can unite people across every border. And that sense of true art and passion also lies within the hearts of every individual that gives life to this global attraction of world cup football. That gives us the real beauty that should stay with us as a bookmark of where we were on a common ground when we saw and looked on in such awe --for both football and art, something was and is always created and representative of ones feelings and how they have been meant to touch others who felt a similar way from around the globe--creating an ultimate bond and connection. To me that is the true art of the world cup and the Quadrennial World Cup Art championships taps the wells of this almost primordial creativity via the ritualistic nature of the global sport tradition and its open and binding arena. I feel there is no better place to bring these ideas forth, of world cup football and world cup art, than here now amidst the World Cup-- in Russia--A place that through hard work and achievement, is so proud and rich with heritage, belief, art, and marvel. . A moment to embrace and or to change the world perspective in a blink of an eye--coming together to celebrate the beauty of our world and relish in what may come. --Panayitois Evripidou

Watch Zidane - A 21th Century Portrait - a video installation from 2006 by Scottish artist Douglas Gordon and his French colleague Philippe Parreno.
"The film is a documentary focused purely on Zidane during the Spanish La Liga match played between Real Madrid and Villarreal on April 23, 2005 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and was filmed in real time using 17 synchronized cameras. During the last minutes of the match, Zidane was sent off as a result of a brawl.[1]
The film bears a similarity to Football As Never Before (aka "Fußball wie noch nie"), a documentary made in 1970 by acclaimed German filmmaker Hellmuth Costard about Manchester United footballer George Best." wikkipeda

World Cup Football and Quadrennial World Cup Art:
One of our missions is to honor and represent the diaspora
in art and
football:
"to sow throughout” from the Greek DIA disperse SPORA seed
a race and gendered condition of melancholia and loss from the traumas of dislocation and the perpetual intrusion of the past into the present
The negative
We hate the abruptness!
Everything is a freakin’ fight.
It was always about being pushed rather than being asked.
The positive
personal directness and honesty
the passion and deep humanity of the people
people care for their culture
people were proud to be their country
Through art and diaspora what we achieve is CHANGE.
Change in the sociocultural context thereby involves changes on a personal experiential plane
One’s work is a direct transport of what they have brought from their country through memories.
The art that is usually created is polarizing.
We get a very hypercritical of and wrathfulness toward all systems of power, institutions, ideologies labeled as political art as it relates to existence in the diaspora.
At the other end we get sentimental art created about your country thats compassionate, loving, deeply spiritual, and full of life.
And so, the political and the spiritual are always at play inside of us, sometimes working on their own, sometimes collaborating, sometimes competing with each other.
Why do we create it?
Do we thank the diaspora for it?
when someone says “I see myself or someone I know in this”
you’re that much closer to caring about other people in the world and then we can go from there

Pan Fact # 5:
Congrats to Belgium's
Thibaut Courtois for winning the Golden Glove!
The Goalie:
It takes a special type of player to truly want to play goalie
It needs a short memory and very thick skin
It needs you to understand mathematics and geometry to know your angles
It needs you to be vocal and speak out and help teammates guide the play
The psychology is very demanding
The discipline you learned from home growing up shapes the goalie you become
Compare the availability of positions
1-2 goalies on each squad
To be the best you must have good instincts, flexibility, hand-eye coordination, trust in your team, and speed.
The position is hyper-demanding as all eyes are on you.
Teammates and fans will get let down and you must except the responsibility of being a difference maker for it is the demand the drives you
Personally to see everything coming towards you and knowing your the last line of defense and are in charge of making the difference and can lift up your teammates, fans, family, and country by making the right decision gives you the most gratifying experiences in the world.
There is an extraordinary amount of work and effort that goes into it but once mastered the rewards are truly indescribable
