Artists please read our for artists page before you apply.  The Quadrennial World Cup Art Exhibit and Competition is a new innovative art event that is set to open every four years in a different country in tandem with the World Cup Football Championships.  It is a new dynamic global arena for artistic expression and its biggest potential for impact is one of artistic social and cultural exchange.  Artists and their work will emerge on a world stage. 

In addition to prizes, global exposure, and exhibition opportunities the artists will receive sixty percent of the proceeds from the auction of their work after it is made available for travel exhibits in museums and galleries for four years. 

                                           

Our goal was to stage our first event titled SOUL in Russia in July of 2018.  Our goals moving forward are to open our first event Daedalus Knights in Qatar in 2022 or in the U.S.A., Mexico, and Canada in 2026 when North America hosts. We are so pleased you are here and encourage you to apply for this special art exhibit and competition.  It cant happen without you and your craft and passion for art. You are the stars and the ambassadors of your time for your countries, your cultures, and for art.  This project is different and fosters artists' work that can make an incredible impact on an important global level-- especially because it is paired with an eighty-eight year old tradition that interests and reaches a vast eclectic and equally passionate global audience.

The event adopts the processes of the World Cup Football Championships (see For Artists page and About Us page) and football is used as a technical support in order for participating artists to create something new.  It is a new medium to express your art and your cultural affiliation with your community, country, and world.

Specifically, artists selected for the competition will be provided a ball or balls that has seen play by their country's football team.  They will be asked to deconstruct these materials and then reconstruct them to create art in any medium that expresses a part of their country's culture. The more surprising or thought-provoking the better!  We are looking especially for pieces that are in relationship with the sport of football.  (The sport is a cultural phenomenon in itself and we anticipate the exhibit to surpass the expected and surprise the audience with it's depth, with what it reveals, and with the distinct global artistic story it tells.)

It is the merging of your art pieces in show that function as a visual representation and that creates a global narrative that is culturally and historically significant as a whole; The singular visions converge to create a global art experience and a distinct world view via dynamic visual works that investigate your unique cultures and traditions side by side--

opening dialogues across disciplines through your narratives that might embrace histories, politics, and myriad artistic expressions of cultures in relation to a global sport tradition.

Every four years the story changes and evolves and provides the world audience with an interesting contemporary new perspective.

I keep writing new and innovative and that we are!!!! And we are barreling through to our premier.  Also we are very accepting of the organic nature in which  our project evolves and unfolds. We love our projected event for 2022:  Daedalus Knights in Qatar,  but it may be more appropriate to have our first opening in North America as we continue to gain trust points and work to secure affiliations to create our reality.   We have amazing marketing, affiliate, and funding strategies in place.  The first ever World Cup Artists will be important in shaping our future, and also will be recognized as the first in a special collection of artists that will grow through time.  We expected some big learning curves and some resistance as a new thing of course. Ha -we are artists--not world level advertisers or marketing gurus.  However, we understand what is needed for the journey ahead and are more than excited for it.  We want to hit those trust points and engage globally-- reassuring our supporters and our artists of our passion and legitimacy--of the profound artistic potential and importance of our project--of our dedication and ability to secure amazing affiliations and funding significant enough to stage our event complete with ground-breaking artists,  insightful jurors, exceptional cultural and artistic speakers, gala events, substantial awards and support for our artists, and world traveling exhibits that can enlighten, provoke dialogue, delight, and surprise.

So to preface application calls further, I want you artists to feel secure and know that in the event that our opening is pushed back from  Daedalus Knights in Qatar in 2022 our premier date instead will move to 2026, artists will have the choice to retract their submissions or to let them stand as official submissions for the 2026 event.  You will receive updates and reminders relevant to the project's development and successes as well as the opportunity to change your submission materials at any time.  Let's do this though!!! Spread the word to artists and art supporters the world over and let's pop up and anchor roots together.

Here are your rules:

​

The application to participate is open to any artist over the age of eighteen.  Through a special jury process, one artist or artist team from each of the thirty-two participating World Cup football teams will be chosen to represent their country's team.  An additional thirty-two artists or artist teams will be chosen from any country globally to represent the diaspora in art as it relates to the theme of the event.

At this stage of our project, artists calls are open until our premier is determined.   Artists will be notified of the exact country, venue, and dates for production and exhibit, and materials (balls) will be shipped. Artists will receive instructions for shipping there work to the gallery.  There is no restrictions for size of works, however, artists will be responsible for costs that exceed the alotted artist stipend.  At the close of the exhibit, the work will be housed and made available for travel and loan to museums and galleries globally for four years.  After which time the work will be auctioned off globally--making room for the next round of World Cup Artists to participate in Qatar in 2022.  The artists will receive sixty percent of the proceeds from the auction of their work.

We will be providing artists with a stipend to off set costs of materials and or costs incurred for shipping and handling of your pieces and possibly for travel to the opening and to receive awards at the awards gala.  This will be determined and announced after artists are selected.

1. Choose your country below, or choose diaspora. 

2. Fill out an application and submit it.

3. Upload a resume, artist statement, document page with titles, mediums, and years created for your images.

4.  Upload five images of your work.

5.  Pay $12.00 fee (administration, juror participation)
